Jordan: Missile launched from southern Lebanon lands in Al-Muwaqqar District, Amman Governorate, overnight Sept. 28-29

No casualties or damage reported after missile from Lebanon lands in Al-Muwaqqar District, Amman Governorate, Jordan, overnight Sept. 28-29.

Informational

A missile launched from southern Lebanon reportedly landed in Al-Muwaqqar District, Amman Governorate, overnight Sept. 28-29. Local officials have asserted that the projectile fell in an "uninhabited desert area" and did not cause any injuries or significant material damage. Authorities have deployed to the impact site. Al-Muwaqqar is located about 25 km (16 miles) southeast of Amman.

Increased security and disruptions to transport and business will likely affect the vicinity of the impact site over the coming hours.

Avoid the vicinity of the impact site. Consider taking alternative routes to circumvent the affected area and any disruptions. Follow the instructions of local authorities and your home government.

It is unlikely that the Lebanese Hizballah (LH) deliberately launched the missile toward Jordan. The LH has recently targeted Israeli settlements in the West Bank with projectile fire; those areas within the West Bank were likely the intended target of the missile attack.
