Morocco: Increased security likely after clashes between migrants and police in Fnideq Sept. 15

Heightened security measures are likely in Fnideq, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region, in the coming days following clashes between police officers and migrants Sept. 15. Dozens of migrants had attempted to cross into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in response to calls on social media. Police reported that they had arrested several individuals and deported them.

Increased security measures will almost certainly result in localized transport and business disruptions. Authorities may implement checkpoints and other security measures to prevent migrants from crossing the border.
