Flight disruptions have been reported at Wellington International Airport (WLG) in Wellington, North Island, after an Air New Zealand (NZ) aircraft made an emergency landing following an engine fire just after 16:00 Sept. 1. Officials state that all 40 passengers were safely evacuated and the fire has since been extinguished. Several flights were diverted.

While the runway has reopened, residual delays are possible over the coming hours.
