New Zealand: Unionized rail workers in Wellington plan work-to-rule action from 00:01 Sept. 17

Rail workers plan work-to-rule action across Wellington, New Zealand from 00:01 Sept. 17. Disruptions possible.

Informational

Train disruptions are possible on Metlink rail services due to indefinite industrial action by the Rail and Maritime Transport Union from 00:01 Sept. 17. Unionized rail workers will take all work breaks and refuse overtime work or shift changes. Officials are unable to specify which services will be affected and are warning that the availability of replacement bus services will be limited. Additional strike action is possible after the union commences collective bargaining scheduled Sept. 26.

Unless averted, delays and cancellations could occur at short notice during the strike action. Alternate bus and train services will likely experience crowding.
