Romania: Railway workers to demonstrate in Bucharest Sept. 26

Unionized railway workers to protest at Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity in Bucharest, Romania, 09:45-12:00 Sept. 26.

Informational

Unionized railway workers affiliated with the Federation of Railway Transporter Unions in Romania (FSTFR) plan to protest at the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity on Strada Demetru I. Dobrescu 09:45-12:00 Sept. 26. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce planned pension changes. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest site. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
