Yemen: Further protests by retired military personnel likely through late September in Aden

Additional protests by retired military personnel are likely through at least late September in Aden's Khormaskar District following demonstrations that took place Sept. 12-15. Military retirees have been demanding that the government increase their pensions and retirement benefits.

Should additional demonstrations materialize over the coming days, increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or if they ignore police orders to disperse.
