Canada: Authorities suspend ferry services between Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island provinces until at least Oct. 19 due to technical issues

Authorities have suspended ferry services between Caribou, Nova Scotia Province, and Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island Province, until at least Oct. 19 due to technical problems with the MV Saaremaa ship. The main remaining ways of accessing Prince Edward Island are by air or the Confederation Bridge in New Brunswick Province.

The suspension will likely cause transit disruptions between Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island over the coming days, particularly to businesses dependent on freight hauling. Due to diverted demand, traffic on the Confederation Bridge will likely be heavier.
