Authorities plan to dispose of suspected unexploded WWII bombs at Schutzen Square in Gottingen on Oct. 12. Authorities will establish a cordon with a radius of 1,000 meters (1,093 yards) from 06:00 and plan to evacuate up to 11,000 people from the affected area before the operation starts. Authorities report that the area will remain cordoned off until the evening hours of Oct. 12. Railway services through Gottingen will be suspended approximately 06:30-23:30 on Oct. 12; however, a replacement bus service will be in place.

Heightened security, railway travel disruptions, and road closures are likely through Oct. 12. Lingering disruptions are possible after the operation concludes.

Avoid the affected area until authorities give the all-clear. Allow additional time if traveling near the evacuation zone. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities.
