Increased security likely in Krefeld, Germany after authorities neutralize incendiary object-throwing attacker at CinemaxX late Oct. 10.

Authorities will almost certainly maintain an increased security posture in Krefeld after they reportedly shot and neutralized an attacker who threw incendiary objects, likely Molotov cocktails, in the city on the evening of Oct. 10. Reports indicate that the assailant threw one of the devices at the Federal Employment Agency and set fire to a vehicle then fled toward Krefeld Central Station (Krefeld Hauptbahnhof) before being confronted and subsequently shot by police at the CinamaxX cinema. Authorities have yet to provide any details on a possible motive and any casualties due to the incident.

Localized transport and business disruptions are likely over the coming hours as authorities continue to investigate the incident. Though there have been no reports of rail disruptions at Krefeld Central Station, disruptions are possible.
