An explosion occurred near Musalla Square, in the Musalla neighborhood of Kirkuk, on Oct. 5, injuring at least four people. Initial reports indicate a roadside bomb planted in a vehicle exploded. There have been no claims of responsibility; however, the Islamic State (IS) regularly claims responsibility for similar attacks.
Increased security is likely in the affected area as authorities investigate and respond to the incident. Disruptions to business operations and road travel are likely.

On Oct. 2, four Iraqi soldiers were killed and three others injured in an ambush in a southern neighborhood of Kirkuk. The Islamic State claimed responsibility.
