Israel: Lebanese Hizballah rocket attack toward northern Israel kills at least one person, injures several others Oct. 19
Increased security likely after rocket attack on northern Israel killed at least one person, injured around a dozen others, Oct. 19.
The Lebanese Hizballah (LH) has reportedly launched multiple rockets targeting locations in northern Israel on Oct. 19, killing at least one person and injuring around a dozen others. Reports suggest the rocket attacks targeted mainly areas in and around Haifa Bay and western Galilee. The individual killed was near Acre, and several of those injured were reportedly in Kiryat Ata. According to LH, areas targeted included Safad, Philon Base in Rosh Pina, Krayot, Nesher's military base near Haifa, and several other locations. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reportedly intercepted some of the rockets.
Heightened security and disruptions to transport and business are likely in the affected area over the coming hours. Further cross-border violence is possible over the coming hours and days.
Consider avoiding nonessential travel to Israel until the situation stabilizes. Avoid the vicinity of the impact sites until authorities have given the all-clear and vacated the area. Monitor local media and abide by security forces' directives. If incoming mortar rounds or rockets are reported or warning sirens sound in the general vicinity, report to the nearest bomb shelter and await further instructions from authorities. If there is no shelter nearby, stay indoors and away from windows and exterior walls. If possible, move to a ground floor or basement. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation.
