Activists plan to demonstrate in Rome and in urban centers across Italy on Oct. 19. Campaigners will denounce the government's proposed security bill, which will introduce tougher restrictions on protests. It is likely that several hundred, possibly low thousands, will take part in major cities. The largest protests are likely to be:

• Rome: Piazza Esquilino, from 14:00

• Bari: Piazza Liberta, from 10:00

• Florence: Via Cavour 1, from 10:30

• Genoa: Piazza San Lorenzo, from 15:30

• Naples: Piazza Garibaldi, from 15:00

• Palermo: Central Station, from 17:00

• Turin: Piazza Castello, from 15:30.

Increased security and localized road travel and transport disruptions are likely near the rally sites on Oct. 19. Significant violence is unlikely, but low-level confrontations between police and protesters cannot be discounted.
