Italy: Authorities suspend flights at Milan Bergamo Airport Oct. 1 following runway incident

Authorities suspend flights at Milan Bergamo Airport, Italy, until at least 17:00 Oct. 1 due to runway incident. Reconfirm flights.

Warning

Authorities have suspended all flights at Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) as of the afternoon of Oct. 1 after a Ryanair (FR) flight burst its tires during landing. The flight was able to complete the landing maneuver, and no casualties were reported. However, the plane remains on the runway while emergency crews work to remove the aircraft and repair the tarmac. Multiple outbound flights have been canceled, while inbound flights have been diverted. While authorities state flight services will resume around 17:00, severe disruptions will likely persist throughout the day.

Disruptions will likely persist for several hours after the runway is cleared and airlines work to reposition aircraft and clear flight backlogs.

Confirm flights if flying via BGY Oct. 1; do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
