Italy: Vehicle collision prompts, emergency response and closure of A26/E25 highway as of late Oct. 7

Authorities closed the A26/E25 highway in both directions between San Nicolo and Masone late Oct. 7 after a cargo truck lost control and crashed into two other cargo vehicles; the collision reportedly caused multiple explosions and injured at least three people. At least one vehicle caught fire in the incident. It was not immediately clear when authorities would reopen the highway.

The A26/E25 will likely remain closed between San Nicolo and Masone until authorities clear the area and conclude their investigations. Heightened security is likely near the incident site, and heavy smoke is possible.
