Romania: Miners to demonstrate in Bucharest, Oct. 2

Unionized miners affiliated with the National Mine Energy Federation (FNME) plan to protest at Victory Square in Bucharest from 11:00-13:00 Oct. 2. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce changes to pension laws. Approximately 500 participants are likely to attend.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest site. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.
