Unionized police officers and pensioners to protest in multiple areas of Bucharest, Romania, Oct. 25. Localized disruptions likely.
Unionized law enforcement officers and pensioners are planning two demonstrations in Bucharest on Oct. 25. The purpose of the actions is to demand improved salaries and contract conditions, as well as improved pension schemes. Several hundred to low thousands of people are likely to participate in the events. The two demonstrations will occur according to the following schedule:
Revolution Square: Pensioners of different sectors are likely to start their protests from 09:45, based on previous events. The starting time remains unconfirmed;
Victory Square: Unionized law enforcement officers plan to protest from 13:00.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest sites. Lingering disruptions are possible after the protest concludes. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.
