South Africa: Authorities to close part of N3 highway for planned roadworks in western Durban, Oct. 12-14

Authorities to close part of N3 highway for roadworks in western Durban, South Africa, Oct. 12-14. Plan for ground travel disruptions.

Informational

The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) has announced it will close parts of the N3 highway at the EB Cloete Interchange, western Durban, Oct. 12-14. This is to facilitate roadworks on the N3 highway. The closure will affect the north-bound N3 offramp onto the N2. The section will be closed between 14:00 Oct. 12-02:00 Oct. 14; the closure period is subject to change at short notice. This is the second of five planned closures scheduled through early November.

Disruptions from increased traffic are likely to affect the N3 and the nearby N2 and may linger in the hours following the closure. Increased congestion may also cause delays in accessing King Shaka International Airport (DUR). Localized transport disruptions and freight delays are likely for the duration of the closure.

Plan for transport disruptions and delays if traveling to Durban or through DUR during the affected period. Consider seeking alternative routes. Heed the instructions of officials.
