Members of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), South Africa's largest federation of unions, plan to protest near the Parliament buildings in Cape Town on Oct. 30. The protest is ahead of the Finance Minister's midterm budget speech before Parliament. Demonstrators plan to gather along Hanover Street from 09:00 before marching to the Parliament to protest and hand over a memorandum of demands; the gathering is planned to conclude at 13:00.

Increased security is likely in central Cape Town, especially near the Parliament Building. Localized travel disruptions are probable along the protest route. While violence is unlikely, minor skirmishes with security services or opposing protesters are possible.
