Activists and political leadres are protesting at Esenyurt Meydani in Esenyurt, Turkiye, late afternoon Oct. 31. Demonstrators are denouncing the Oct. 30 arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Ozer and demanding his release. At least one thousand participants appear to be in attendance, and high-level political leaders, including Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Ozgur Ozel and Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, are participating in the rally.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest site. Confrontations, potentially escalating to clashes, cannot be ruled out between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or opposed individuals.
