Argentina: Unionized health workers stage protest march and rally in Buenos Aires late Nov. 22

Health workers affiliated with the Association of Professionals and Technicians of the Garrahan Hospital (Asociacion de Profesionales y Tecnicos del Hospital Garrahan, APyT Hospital Garrahan) have staged a protest march and are conducting a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) class in Buenos Aires on the evening of Nov. 22. The purpose of the protest march, which reportedly began from the intersection of Avenida Callao and Avenida Corrientes and proceeded to the Obelisco, was to demand improved wages and denounce perceived rapid employee attrition. The number of people participating in the march and CPR class were not immediately clear.

Authorities will probably maintain a heightened security presence in the vicinity of the Obelisco until the CPR class concludes. Lingering traffic disruptions will likely affect locations near the march route. Health professionals' participation in the protest activity may lead to short-term disruptions to nonemergency medical services at Hospital Garrahan.
