Opposition political groups to demonstrate at the National Assembly in Sofia, Bulgaria, Nov. 11. Heightened security, disruptions likely.

Informational

Opposition political groups plan to demonstrate at the National Assembly in Sofia Nov. 11. The MRF-New Beginning political coalition, led by Delyan Peevski, has called for the protest to denounce the results of recent parliamentary elections amid allegations of voter fraud. Nov. 11 represents the start of Bulgaria's new parliamentary term. Several hundred demonstrators may take part.

Local authorities will likely deploy heightened security to the event. Increased security and possible road closures will likely prompt localized transport disruptions. Low-level scuffles between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the demonstration site. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
