Emergency crews are responding to a freight train derailment that occurred near the intersection of Saint-Georges and Saint-Louis streets, in Longueuil, Quebec east of Montreal during the morning of Nov. 14. There have as yet been no reports of injuries; however, responders are conducting tests to determine if any hazardous materials have been released. Authorities have advised residents within an 800-meter (0.5-mile) radius of the scene to remain indoors.

The emergency response will likely prompt local road closures, potentially resulting in transport and business disruptions in the area through late Nov. 14.

Avoid the area and strictly heed instructions from authorities. Close windows and doors to reduce exposure to potential harmful chemicals. Allow extra time to reach destinations near the scene of the incident.
