Dominican Republic: Medical doctors to hold 96-hour strike at public hospitals nationwide Nov. 19-22

Members of the Dominican Medical Guild (Colegio Medico Dominicano, CMD), plan to launch a 96-hour strike at all public hospitals across the Dominican Republic Nov. 19-22 to demand higher salaries. The protest action is likely to significantly disrupt services in public hospitals and primary care centers; however, emergency services will continue to be provided.

Protests near medical centers and government offices cannot be ruled out. Higher occupancy at private medical centers is likely due to limited services at public hospitals.
