India: Activists call for protest march to the Meghalaya State Secretariat in Shillong Nov. 8

The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) will hold a protest march to the Meghalaya State Secretariat building in Shillong Nov. 8 to call for the state government to take action against drug trafficking and addiction. Organizers have not specified a start time or location for the march, but participants may begin at Barik Point. Dozens of participants are likely to join the event.

Authorities will certainly deploy to monitor the demonstration. While the event will likely be peaceful, roadblocks and security cordons are likely to control the gathering. Localized transport disruptions, including traffic diversions, are probable along the street march route and roads near the State Secretariat.
