Rahul Gandhi to hold Indian National Congress rallies across Jharkhand State, India, Nov. 8-9. Increased security, disruptions likely.
Rahul Gandhi plans to hold Indian National Congress (INC) rallies across Jharkhand State Nov. 8-9 ahead of the Jharkhand legislative assembly elections. Initial reports indicate Gandhi plans to hold rallies at the Gandhi Maidan in Simdega at 12:10 and then arrive at the BS College ground in Lohardaga around 13:45. Gandhi will then hold rallies at the Matigarh Dam Colony near Baghmara and will visit Jamshedpur on Nov. 9. Although the exact timing and location for the rallies on Nov. 9 remain unclear, demonstrations typically occur in the late morning to early afternoon near government buildings, public venues, and thoroughfares. Participation will likely be in the low thousands.
Additionally, related demonstrations and counterdemonstrations may materialize in Jharkhand. Potential venues include public squares, stadiums, major thoroughfares, and outside government buildings. Authorities will likely deploy a heightened security presence to the sites of any demonstrations that occur. Clashes between police and activists, as well as between members of rival political camps, cannot be ruled out. Transport disruptions are likely. Associated business disruptions are also possible.
Avoid the planned rallies and any other demonstrations that materialize as a standard precaution. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Plan accordingly for transport and business disruptions. Carry proper identification documents at all times. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
