South Africa: Opposition party to protest in central Johannesburg Nov. 26

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) opposition party is planning a protest march through central Johannesburg from Mary Fitzgerald Square to the Constitutional Court starting from 08:00 on Nov. 26. They are demanding that authorities resume their investigation of incumbent President Ramaphosa over allegations of illegal detention of foreign currency, amongst other issues. Several hundred to more than a thousand participants are likely to attend the event.

Increased security and localized road transport disruptions are likely along the protest route. Clashes may occur if demonstrators are overly disruptive or engage in acts of violence.
