South Korea: Supporters of Democratic Party of Korea to demonstrate at Sungnyemun Square in Seoul from 14:00 Nov. 2

Anti-government protest planned at Sungnyemun Square in Seoul, South Korea, from 14:00 Nov. 2. Tight security, localized disruptions likely.

Warning

The Democratic Party of Korea has called for a protest at Sungnyemun Square in Seoul from 14:00 Nov. 2 to demand investigations into alleged irregularities of the current administration, such as President Yoon Suk Yeol's purported interference in the 2022 by-elections and a controversial luxury gift accepted by the first lady. Several hundred people may participate.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are probable near the rally site. Traffic disruptions are especially likely in the Sejong-daero area, including along routes to the Seoul train station. Isolated scuffles are possible if police attempt to disperse the gathering forcibly.

Avoid the protest as a precaution and to minimize travel delays. Allow additional time for travel to nearby destinations. Leave the area at the first sign of a security disturbance. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
