South Korea: Supporters of Democratic Party of Korea to demonstrate in Seoul Nov. 9

Anti-government protest planned at City Hall Station in Seoul, South Korea, from 18:30 Nov. 9. Tight security, localized disruptions likely.

Warning

The Democratic Party of Korea has called for a protest at Exit 8 of City Hall Station in Seoul from 18:30 Nov. 9 to demand investigations into alleged irregularities of the current administration, such as President Yoon Suk Yeol's alleged interference in the 2022 by-elections and a controversial luxury gift accepted by the first lady. Several hundred people may participate.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are probable near the rally site. Traffic disruptions are especially likely in the Sejong-daero area, including along routes to the Seoul train station. Isolated scuffles are possible if police attempt to disperse the gathering forcibly.

Avoid the protest as a precaution and to minimize travel delays. Allow additional time for travel to nearby destinations. Leave the area at the first sign of a security disturbance. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
