Firefighters are responding to a major structure fire at medical devices manufacturing facility on Gazi Street, Esenyurt, Istanbul, as of the morning of Nov. 15. The fire is reportedly producing significant amounts of thick smoke in the area. The factory has been evacuated and authorities cordoned off the area as operations are ongoing. At least 10 people are being reportedly treated due to the inhalation of smoke. The cause of the blaze remains unclear. Large numbers of police and emergency medical personnel have also deployed to the scene.

Authorities will almost certainly maintain a heightened security presence in the affected area until the fire has been completely extinguished. Transport and business disruptions will probably affect the vicinity of the incident site through Nov. 15.

Avoid the area until authorities give the all-clear. Seek alternative routes and allow additional time for travel near the scene of the fire. Follow all instructions from security personnel, including any evacuation orders. Consider remaining indoors to avoid smoke exposure, especially if you suffer from a respiratory illness such as asthma, or conditions that lead to increased risk from smoke exposure. Eye irritation is possible; flush irritated eyes with copious amounts of clean water.
