UK: Rail transport disruptions likely to affect trains operating via Birmingham's New Street Station through late Nov. 30 following trespassing

Act of trespassing disrupts trains traveling via New Street Station in Birmingham, UK, Nov. 30; lingering rail transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Significant rail transport disruptions will likely affect trains traveling via Birmingham's New Street Station through at least late Nov. 30 due to an earlier trespassing incident. The incident has affected several train operators' routes, including those of Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, London Northwestern Railway, Transport for Wales, and West Midlands Railway. While all rail lines have reportedly reopened following the incident, National Rail has asserted that trains that run via the New Street Station will likely experience "major disruption...until the end of the day," adding that such trains may continue to be revised, canceled, or delayed by up to 60 minutes.

Residual rail transport disruptions may persist into at least early Dec. 1 in the event that train operators need to reposition rolling stock. The train disruptions may lead to increased demand for alternative modes of transport over the coming hours.

Reconfirm rail transport reservations and schedules if planning to travel via Birmingham's New Street Station. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider taking alternative modes of transport for time-sensitive travel.
