A magnitude-4.1 earthquake occurred in the south of the Island of Hawaii at around 12:42 on Nov. 14. The epicenter was about 19 km (12 miles) southeast of Pahala. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 33.4 km (20.7 miles), and weak to light shaking was reported throughout the Island of Hawaii and other southern islands of the state. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties due to the earthquake; however, significant damage is unlikely. It could take several hours for authorities to conduct comprehensive damage assessments, especially in remote areas. Light aftershocks are likely over the coming hours.
