Activists plan to protest at Ban Josip Jelacic Square in Zagreb from 12:00 Dec. 13 to demand improved benefits for retirees and reduced corruption. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend; however, a related demonstration on Nov. 9 appeared to draw several hundred participants.
Police will likely deploy near the protest site to facilitate the demonstration. The presence of large crowds will likely disrupt vehicular transport nearby. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest site. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
