Cuba: Aviation fuel shortage expected to affect international airports in Havana and Varadero until at least Dec. 8
Aviation fuel shortage reported at international airports in Havana and Varadero, Cuba, Dec. 1. Flight, business disruptions likely.
Authorities have warned that a shortage of the JET-A1 aviation fuel will affect Havana's Jose Marti International Airport (HAV) and Varadero's Juan Gualberto Gomez International Airport (VRA) until at least Dec. 8. The announcement comes amid widespread energy shortages in Cuba.
Flight disruptions, including delays, rescheduling, or cancellations, are likely at HAV and VRA. Business disruptions are probable for organizations dependent on air shipments. Lingering flight disruptions are possible even after the situation normalizes as airlines work through the backlog of flights.
Plan for flight disruptions through Dec. 8. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative air transport or air freight arrangements.
