Denmark: Hizb ut Tahrir group will protest Egyptian president's state visit in Copenhagen Dec. 6

Hizb ut Tahrir to lead protest in Copenhagen, Denmark, 18:00 Dec. 6. Increased security, localized disruptions likely.

Informational

Civil society groups, including the Hizb ut Tahrir political organization and pro-Palestinian organizations, will lead a demonstration in Christiansborg Palace Square, Copenhagen, at 18:00 on Dec. 6. Organizers will denounce Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's state visit. The gathering will coincide with a gala dinner in al-Sisi's honor at Christiansborg Palace.

Although participation will likely not exceed the low hundreds, Hizb ut Tahrir is a listed extremist organization in Denmark, and given the gathering's proximity to official state events involving al-Sisi, tight security is likely. Related security measures could prompt localized disruptions, but violence is unlikely.

Avoid the protest as a standard precaution. Allow extra time to reach destinations near the affected area. Heed the instructions of law enforcement officers.
