France: Activists plan to demonstrate in Avignon on Dec. 14

Civil society groups plan to demonstrate at the Palais de Justice in Avignon from 14:00 on Dec. 14 to denounce violence against women. The event is targeted to coincide with the final phases of the trial of Dominique Pelicot in Avignon. Several hundred to more than a thousand demonstrators will likely take part in the event.

Local authorities will likely deploy additional police officers to monitor and facilitate the demonstration. Increased security, road closures, and pedestrian congestion may prompt travel and business disruptions. The event will likely pass off peacefully.
