Prominent lawmaker Rahul Gandhi plans on holding an Indian National Congress (INC) rally at Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh State, on Dec. 4 to denounce clashes that occurred on Nov. 24 over an archeological examination of a 16th-century Mughal Shahi Jama Masjid Mosque. Prominent INC members will likely also join the rally. Gandhi is scheduled to arrive at Sambhal in the early afternoon and will likely hold the rally near the mosque. Participation will likely be in the hundreds.

Additional related demonstrations may materialize in Sambhal. Potential venues include public squares, stadiums, and major thoroughfares, as well as outside government buildings. Authorities will likely deploy a heightened security presence to the sites of any demonstrations.
