Iran: Increased security likely after suicide bombing attack kills one police officer and wounds three others in Bandar-e Lengeh Dec. 28
Heightened security likely after bombing kills one police officer and wounds at least three others in Bandar-e Lengeh, Iran, late Dec. 28.
Authorities will likely maintain a heightened security posture in the port city of Bandar-e Lengeh, Hormozgan Province, Iran, over the coming days following a suicide attack near a police station late Dec. 28. The attack reportedly killed the head of police information and injured at least three other officers. No group has as yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
The increased security presence will almost certainly cause localized transport and business disruptions. Authorities will probably establish checkpoints and enforce other security protocols as they investigate the attack and search for any potential accomplices.
If operating in Bandar-e Lengeh, avoid the scene of the attack until authorities give the all-clear. Exercise situational awareness if operating within Iran, particularly near the Iranian-Pakistani or Iranian-Iraqi borders. Avoid all areas where security forces have deployed. Plan for localized ground transport disruptions.
