Kenya: Kenya Railways suspend commuter train services in Nairobi County Dec. 23-Jan. 5

Kenya Railways announced the temporary suspension of commuter train services in Nairobi County from Dec. 23 through Jan. 5. Rail services such as the Madaraka Express Services and the weekly Safari trains to Nanyuki and Kisumu will not be affected. The company has not specified the exact reason for the suspension.

Increased demand for alternative modes of transport and traffic congestion are likely in Nairobi until normal rail services resume, as individuals who would normally travel by train resort to using taxis, busses, or privately owned vehicles.
