North Macedonia: Activists to protest march in Skopje Dec. 28

Activists to march from Ministry of Environment and Economic Planning to City Hall in Skopje, North Macedonia, from 12:30 Dec. 28.

Informational

Activists plan to march from the Ministry of Environment and Economic Planning on Boulevard Phillip the Second of Macedon to City Hall on Boulevard Illinden in Skopje from 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 28. The demonstration will demand authorities take measures to improve air quality. Organizers did not announce a precise march route; however, they noted that the procession would pass by the Assembly of North Macedonia. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend.

Police will likely deploy along the march route to facilitate the demonstration. The procession will likely disrupt vehicular travel along the march route. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, frustrated motorists, or opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near or between the Ministry of Environment and Economic Planning, the Assembly of North Macedonia, and City Hall. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
