Pakistan: Political party plans to rally in Peshawar Dec. 8
Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam party to hold rally in Peshawar, Pakistan, Dec. 8. Increased security, transport disruptions likely. Clashes possible.
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) party plans to hold a rally in Peshawar on Dec. 8 to denounce Israeli actions in Gaza and also the Pakistani government for not approving the madrassah bill that regulates religious schooling. Although the exact timing and location remain unclear, demonstrations typically occur between late morning and early afternoon near government buildings, public spaces, sports venues, and thoroughfares. Participation will likely be in the hundreds.
Authorities will likely monitor any demonstration and disperse any disruptive crowds. Clashes between police and protestors, as well as between rival parties, cannot be ruled out. Localized transport disruptions are likely, especially if protestors march or block roads. Associated business disruptions are possible.
As a precaution, avoid any demonstrations that materialize. Keep away from locations where security personnel appear to be deploying, and leave the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Allow additional travel time near gathering sites. Plan accordingly for potential localized business disruptions. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
