Serbia: Activists demonstrating in Belgrade on Dec. 11

Activists protesting at Presidency of the Republic of Serbia in Belgrade as of evening Dec. 11. Increased security, disruptions likely.

Informational

As of the early evening of Dec. 11, activists are protesting at the Presidency of the Republic of Serbia on Andricev Venac in Belgrade to denounce the planned demolition of the Old Sava Bridge and express solidarity with student protesters. Some of the participants marched to the Presidency from the Old Sava Bridge. Several hundred participants are likely in attendance.

Police are likely to deploy to monitor and facilitate the gathering. The presence of demonstrators, as well as potential further processions, is likely to disrupt vehicular traffic in the area. Demonstrators clashed with police during a related protest on Nov. 27; similar violence cannot be ruled out during the event.

Avoid all protest activity as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the Presidency. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
