Serbia: Workers to conduct protest march in Belgrade Dec. 12
Unionized workers to march from National Assembly to Government of Serbia in Belgrade, Serbia, 12:00 Dec. 12. Heightened security likely.
Unionized government administrators plan to march from the National Assembly on Trg Nikole Pasica to the Government of Serbia building on Nemanjina Ulica in Belgrade from 12:00 on Dec. 12. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand more compensation and societal respect for public administrators. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend.
Police will likely deploy at the National Assembly, along the march route, and at the Government of Serbia to facilitate the demonstration. The procession will likely disrupt vehicular travel. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near or between the National Assembly and the Government of Serbia. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
