Spain: Unionized rail workers cancel nationwide strike planned for Dec. 23-25 /update 1
Unionized rail staff suspend strike planned across Spain Dec. 23-25.
Rail workers affiliated with the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) union have called off the strike planned across Spain Dec. 23-Dec. 25 after reaching an agreement with high-speed rail operator Iryo Dec. 19. The work stoppage aimed to demand higher salaries and denounce alleged efforts by Iryo to effectively ban its employees from participating in strike actions. The CGT has stated that the strikes have been postponed as the agreement is insufficient. Strikes planned for Dec. 30-Jan. 1 have also been suspended, but the CGT will likely plan further work stoppages in the following weeks.
