Informational

Campaign groups plan a demonstration march in Ankara from 11:00 Dec. 28. Participants will gather at the Ataturk Cultural Center and then march to Anadolu Square, where they will hold a rally from 13:00. Numerous civil society associations will unite under a "Citizen's Unity" banner to demand improved rights for women, children, and other disadvantaged groups. It is likely that several hundred to over a thousand protestors will take part.

Local authorities will likely to deploy additional police to facilitate the gathering. Increased security and road closures will likely prompt localized disruptions. The event will likely pass off peacefully.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest site. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
