A police operation in response to a shooting incident that occurred in Livingston, Tennessee, has ended during the late morning of Dec. 20 with the death of the suspected gunman. Officers found the perpetrator dead inside his vehicle along Interstate Highway 40 (I-40) in Roane County. The suspect had reportedly shot two people inside the Hutchinson Plant in Livingston before fleeing the scene, triggering a large police search operation. Authorities subsequently located and surrounded the suspect along I-40 near the town of Rockwood, prompting a standoff which led to the closure of the highway and nearby thoroughfares.
Heightened security and localized business and transport disruptions are likely into at least the early afternoon of Dec. 20.
