Yemen: US airstrike targets Al-Houthi command and control facility in Sana'a Dec. 16
US airstrike targets Al-Houthi command and control facility in Sana'a, Yemen, Dec. 16; lingering increased security, disruptions likely.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) has asserted that its forces conducted an airstrike on an Al-Houthi command and control facility in Sana'a on Dec. 16. CENTCOM added that the targeted facility was a key site used by the Al-Houthis to coordinate attacks against US military and merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, among other operations. No casualties were immediately reported in connection with the airstrike.
Emergency services personnel will likely deploy to the targeted site. Heightened security and disruptions to transport and business will probably affect the impacted area over the coming hours. Further airstrikes and retaliatory Al-Houthi attacks are possible over the short term.
Exercise caution and avoid Al-Houthi military sites and concentrations of security personnel if operating in Sana'a. If airstrikes are reported in your general vicinity, take cover in the nearest shelter and remain there until given further instructions by authorities. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation.
