France: Campaign groups to demonstrate in Paris Jan. 11
Campaign groups to protest at Place de la Republique and Gare du Nord in Paris, France, Jan. 11. Increased security, disruptions likely.
Campaign groups are planning separate demonstrations in Paris on Jan. 11.
Kurdish groups will gather at the Gare du Nord from 10:00, to demand information regarding the deaths of Kurdish diaspora members in France in recent years.
Malian campaign groups led by the Panel of Democrats will gather from 14:00-18:00 in the Place de la Republique. Activists will protest against the Malian government's decision to leave the West African Countries' Economic Community.
It is unclear how many people will participate in the events, but France has a significant diaspora of both Kurdish and Malian communities.
Authorities will likely deploy additional police to monitor the protests. Heightened security and pedestrian congestion may prompt localized road transport disruptions, but the events will likely pass off peacefully.
Avoid the demonstrations as a standard precaution. Consider taking alternative routes and modes of transport to mitigate the impact of any related disruptions. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
