Residual disruptions to transport and business will likely affect the vicinity of the Madina Bus Station in Conakry over the coming hours after a fire broke out in the area on Jan. 3. The blaze reportedly ignited in a truck parked in the area and caused traffic disruptions and material damage. The fire also emitted thick, black smoke before authorities brought it under control. Officials did not immediately confirm the cause of the blaze or any associated casualties.

The smoke from the fire may noticeably worsen air quality in parts of Conakry over the coming hours. Authorities will probably maintain an increased security presence around the scene of the fire over the short term to facilitate their investigative work.
