Protest planned at Raj Bhavan in Agartala, Tripura State, India, Jan. 11. Tight security, transport disruptions likely; scuffles possible.
The Ganamukti Parishad outfit called for a sit-in protest at the governor's residence of Raj Bhavan in Agartala City, Tripura State, 12:00-15:00 Jan. 11. The action is to demand resolution of various grievances of tribal communities. Up to a few hundred people may participate. The event is likely to pass off peacefully.
Heightened security and traffic curbs are likely around the protest site. Although violence is unlikely, isolated scuffles are possible, especially if police attempt to forcibly disperse unruly demonstrators. Transport disruptions may be exacerbated if protesters march on or block roadways, including sections of the National Highway 108B. Increased congestion and demand for public transport are possible as attendees reach and leave the venue.
Exercise caution around the protest site. In the event of violence, leave the area immediately for a secure, nongovernment building. Allow additional time for travel to nearby destinations; use alternative routes to circumvent rally site. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
