Portugal: Ongoing work-to-rule strike at airports /update 1

Event

A work-to-rule strike organized by the Union of Aviation Sector and Airport Workers (Sindicato dos Trabalhadores e Aviação, SITAVA) was launched on Saturday, June 3, and is currently set to end on October 1.

The strike action could affect airport and airline operations, particularly outside normal working hours - e.g. during bank holidays, overtime periods, etc. Disruptions, including last-minute delays, cancelations, and rescheduled flights, are possible during this four-month period, along with increased waiting times at airports.

Context

During work-to-rule strikes, employees carry out the bare minimum of work required by their contracts and/or law. They may also follow safety or other regulation obligations to an exaggerated extent, intentionally slowing down operations.
